Homeless Help Center Kitchen/Counter - Cafe St. Vincent

Cafe St. Vincent, the North County Homeless Help Center in South San Francisco, serves up to 150 lunches, daily, Monday through Friday and breakfast on Saturday. In addition to nourishment, we also provide assistance such as shelter, clothing, haircut and shower vouchers, transportation, substance abuse referrals, spiritual and other general assistance. So you can imagine how much we appreciate your help.

Volunteer positions available at Cafe St. Vincent:
Cook: Duties involve preparing and cooking hot soups, for our homeless guests. Typically, we use fresh vegetables and meat.
Food Preparation (Hours: 8:00am to 10:00am): Duties involve helping to prepare sandwiches, lunches, snacks each day, from the day's menu.
Food Server (Hours: 9:30am to 12:30pm): Duties involve helping to serve hot soups, drinks, snacks and bagged lunches to our homeless guests. Experience in interacting with low income and those suffering from mental or substance abuse conditions desired.

Positions require a one day a week commitment for a minumum of one year.

- Negative TB tests desired.
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines and regulations is desired.
- Work clothes must be clean, casual, and with covered shoes.
- Hair to be pinned back or tied up.
- Ability to lift 20lbs and to be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to speak Spanish and Chinese Dialects preferred.

SVdP's South San Francisco facility at 344 Grand Avenue; 50 North "B" Street in San Mateo and at the Fair Oaks Community Center in RWC.

Volunteers are welcome to come and see if this assignment is right for them

Training and orientations are provided to volunteers.

Days available: Weekdays from 8 am -12:30 pm.

We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
