Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Description

Girl Scouting In Nassau County started in 1917. A non-profit organization, Girl Scouts of Nassau County is chartered by GSUSA to develop, maintain and administer Girl Scouting in Nassau County. The Council, 1 of 112 in the United States, serves girls and adults through 36 local geographic Girl Scout Associations throughout all of Nassau County’s school districts.

The success of Girl Scouts of Nassau County is dependent on the trust and confidence we earn from our employees, volunteers, and members. We gain credibility by adhering to our commitments, displaying honesty and integrity and reaching company goals solely through honorable conduct. It is easy to say what we must do, but the proof is in our actions. Ultimately, we will be judged on what we do. More

Commitment To Pluralism

Girl Scouts of Nassau County is committed to achieve pluralism through respect for and appreciation of the religious, racial, ethnic, social, and economic diversity of this county by reflecting that diversity in its membership, leadership, and programming.

We believe this commitment is an integral part of all that we do as an organization.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County is an equal opportunity, affirmative action agency.

Membership in the Girl Scout organization is open to all girls and adults--regardless of race, religion, national origin, socioeconomic status or ability--who accept the Girl Scout Promise, Law and the principles and beliefs of the organization.

Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA)

Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), founded in 1912, is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls ages 5 to 17, where girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives--like strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. In Girl Scouts, girls grow strong in mind, body and spirit.
