Internship Description: MEND Afterschool Program Lead Tutor
Time commitment per week: One day per week, 3 hours per day.
Description: Lead tutors ensure that the day to day operations of the MEND afterschool youth program run smoothly, and ensure quality tutoring services. Lead tutors will receive 15 hours of tutor training and will gain valuable firsthand experience with K-12 students. Lead tutors will learn valuable skills to apply to any academic environment, including:
Supporting students and parents with new common core standards
Parent communication
Student assessment techniques
Classroom management
Opportunities to train fellow tutors
Collaborations and networking opportunities
Requirements: Must be a current student at a community college or university with a focus in Early Childhood Education, Chicano Studies, Sociology or any relevant major with a focus on serving youth clients. Other majors will be considered if the career objectives of the applicant include working with youth.

Applicants who are invited to intern must complete and pass a Live Scan background check before working with our youth clients.
