Are you looking for a great way to enhance your resume and portfolio with experience in photography while helping a great cause? Consider a photo internship at Foothills Animal Shelter.
The photography intern will be expected to:
- Photograph adoptable cats to show off their personalities and help them get adopted faster
- Edit and upload photos to the shelter’s database
- Use creativity when given photography projects on upcoming events or marketing promotions
- Photograph Shelter staff and volunteers to use in recognition events
- Provide own equipment such as digital camera, memory card, and laptop
- Help with other tasks as needed
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Enjoys working with people and animals
- Has photography experience
- Is flexible, detail-oriented, organized and efficient
- Can multi-task and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Conducts him/herself in a professional manner
- Wants to expand resume with on-the-job experience and treats the internship as a real job
- Believes in Shelter mission
This is an unpaid internship with a weekly expectation of 10 - 15 hours per week. As an intern, you will be supporting a local nonprofit organization and gaining valuable experience in animal welfare and photography. This internship can be offered "for credit" depending on the school’s internship requirements.

Foothills Animal Shelter is an open-admissions facility, which means we never turn away an animal. We care for more than 9,000 orphaned cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and critters every year with a compassionate team of staff and volunteers. We are a true community resource and offer a variety of services including pet adoption, Jefferson County pet licensing, affordable spaying and neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and lost and found pets.
