Taste of Park Place an afternoon of fun, food and style. Guests will enjoy a sampling of culinary delights from participating restaurants, check out the shops and enjoy a complimentary $5 savings card and V.I.P. offers at select retailers.
Volunteers will arrive by 12:30pm for a tour and training, then will work a one hour shift (either 2-3pm or 3-4pm). Volunteers are invited to attend the event for free either before or after their shift.
Volunteer positions include:
-Restaurant Representative (Volunteers will greet guests at their assigned restaurants entrance and answer questions about the event)
-Event Representative (Volunteers will walk assigned street in pairs, wearing volunteer t-shirt and answering event questions)
-Registration (Volunteers will check in pre-registered guests and sell day of tickets using Square Care Reader and tablet. Must be comfortable with technology)

The mission of NEWHOUSE is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing the tools that allow women to make positive choices and lead self-sufficient lives.
Description
Newhouse provides access, admittance and residence in temporary shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children 24-hours a day, every day of the year. Newhouse takes a comprehensive approach in meeting the needs of the women and children who turn to Newhouse for emergency shelter and for relief from the crushing distress of domestic violence.
Newhouse has served Kansas City's urban core for 42 years. In 2012, Newhouse provided 24,769 bednights to 792 residents (511 women and 281 children). Newhouse answered 9,248 emergency hotline calls and served 661 victims in the Municipal Domestic Violence Court system.
