Stand Up Youth Leadership Conference Volunteer Opportunity:

Stand Up is a powerful and rewarding three-day youth conference designed to help youth develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

Schools from across the State of Pennsylvania send student teams to State College, PA. Each team consists of five high school sophomores and juniors accompanied by one or two faculty mentors. Students are challenged to develop and implement projects that will improve their school and/or community environment.

Our goal is for participating students to:
• Increase self-awareness and understanding of personal styles
• Develop knowledge and skills in communication, teamwork, and leadership
• Develop commitment and dedication to community service
• Bring diverse groups in their schools together by engaging others in their projects

Stand Up Youth Leadership Conference Volunteers will fulfill several roles vital to the success of the conference:

• Project Guides: provide guidance to sophomore and junior high school students as they develop school and community improvement projects that they will later implement in their own communities.

• Team Building Facilitators: interact with students and provide encouragement as they work on team building activities.

• Campus Tour Guides: escort students to dinner and free time in downtown State College and provide PSU campus tours.

10:30am-12:30pm - Team Building Activity Leader

1:30pm-2:30pm - Project Planning Guide - Session II

4:15pm-5:45pm - Project Planning Guide - Session III

6:00pm-8:30pm - Downtown & PSU Tour Guide

This is a great opportunity to mentor high school students from across PA and to encourage and inspire them to become leaders in their schools and communities!
