A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3)non-profit organization based in New York City. Our focus is to provide children, ages 6-18 who are patients or survivors of juvenile cancer, the opportunity to explore their artistic passions and give them the strength to fight their disease. We believe that artistic expression is critical for healing! A Free Bird supports children affected by cancer in their exploration of art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing and any other artistic passion they may have.
Requirements:
--Bachelor Degree in Psychology or counseling, including Master Degree in Art therapy where they have taken the art licensing exam from the ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board) where they will take the ATCBE (Art Therapy Credentials Board Examinations)
--Completed 1000 hours of supervised fieldwork, this includes working with clients 1on1.
--Some degrees certain art therapists may have include:
Creative Arts Therapies, Art Therapy Counseling, Adlerian Counseling and Psychotherapy, Counseling Psychology, Art Therapy and Counseling, Art Therapy and Special Education, Expressive Therapies, Transpersonal Counseling, Marital and Family Counseling, Art Therapy and Creativity Development, Psychology, Counseling and Personal Services, Art Education, and Art Therapy
