ORGANIZATION: Foothills Art Center

Description:

Foothills Art Center seeks a dynamic self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a community-based nonprofit organization. This position reports to the director of marketing and outreach.

Responsibilities include:

• Updating and maintaining FAC’s social media presence, including scheduling Facebook and Twitter updates, posting on Instagram and creating editorial calendar (with guidance)

• Assist in compiling information for weekly newsletter and promo e-blasts using Constant Contact

• Assist in drafting, distributing and pitching news releases, media alerts and other stories as needed

• Designing flyers, graphics, invitations and other marketing materials for major events hosted by FAC

• Updating the WordPress-based website when needed

• Delivering exhibition and event rack cards and posters to community organizations, retail shops and area partners to help promote FAC events

• Collaborating with marketing director on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications

Qualifications:

• Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space

• Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English,

Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)

• Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus

• Must be computer literate and tech savvy (working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign desired.

• WordPress knowledge a big plus

• An effective communicator, both written and oral

• Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts

• Self-motivated, positive attitude, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

• Enthusiasm for the mission of Foothills Art Center and the community we serve


Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 3 - 6 month commitment.

Hours: 8 - 12 hours per week, preferably twice a week in the office. Up to 4 hours can be completed at home.

Compensation: This is an unpaid/volunteer internship. You will receive a family membership and access to exclusive member’s only events and receptions.

A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, Foothills Art Center is committed to delivering engaging exhibitions and diverse educational programs for adults and children. Founded in 1968 and an official member of the United States National Registry of Historic Buildings, the main gallery is housed in an 1872 Gothic style church and an 1892 Queen Anne style manse, set behind a sculpture garden designed by Saarinen Landscape Architecture. The Foothills Art Center Community Gallery is located next door, in Victorian era mansion built in 1899 by Perre O. Unger.
