Be a partner in the classroom empowering the adult learner! Metro North Adult Basic Education (ABE) is seeking friendly, enthusiastic, patient and conscientious volunteers. A commitment of 2 hours per week is preferred. Overall scheduling can be adjusted, but consistency on a weekly basis is beneficial for student learners. Here are current available opportunities:
- Help adult learners with ESL (English as a secondary language) or in basic skills (reading, writing, English or Math). Columbia Heights, Fridley, and Blaine have 2 hour shifts available from 8:30 -1:00.
- Calling all clerical dynamos! Brooklyn Center has an opportunity to help greet and support adult learners on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM. Some of the clerical tasks include filing, answering the phone, making copies or light office duties.
- Substitute Classroom volunteers are needed to help learners in a classroom setting. This is an "on-call" position as substitute volunteers are needed. You may choose morning or evening hours, the site that is best for you, as well as a preference for days during the week.
Let's support our students so they can share their skills and enhance our local community! Metro North ABE has many locations throughout Anoka County.
