Teen Chapter Leader

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Sigma Theta Rho Fraternity

We are looking for one male and one female (ages 21-over) to pledge our fraternity and become leaders of the teen chapter of our organization. The teen chapter will be comprised of students from a high school in New York City. If we get more than one qualified candidate, it will enable us to reach more youth in different schools. The teen chapter will meet on Fridays from 5pm to 7pm for SEVEN WEEKS and the leaders can then determine when and how often the chapter can meet after that. Additional activities will happen "online" The pledge process for you AND for them is really a "seven week" online information session - so having a Facebook page (you can create one just for this opportunity) and an email address that you check frequently will be critical! During this seven week process, you will learn about our organization; will help us with virtual service projects and will begin to think about what the teen Chapter will be doing in service to its school and local community in the short and long term. We will also be planning a fraternity fundraiser, a charity basketball game that will hopefully happen in the Fall, 2015 and Conclave Weekend (which will happen MLK weekend 2016 in New Jersey). This weekend will include a step show, dinner/dance, workshops and our annual business meeting. Members of the teen chapter will develop their own activities, but they can also participate in our NY Chapter's hip-hop dance team and their step team. They are trying to get up a basketball team as well. As leader of the chapter, the organization will pay your dues. The teens do not pay dues and their participation can be used for community service hours. We only accept a minimum number of teens per year (15). You will play a role in recruiting future leaders for future teen chapters. This is also an excellent way to learn valuable work experience. Interested candidates will have to submit an essay describing why this opportunity appeals to them as well as a resume. You may need to submit to a background check (fingerprints through the New York City Department of Education). We will respond within 24 hours, BUT ONLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE SUBMITTED THEIR ESSAYS. Essays can be sent to info@sigmathetas.org The pledge period starts on Saturday, February 28th!!
