Camp Evergreen, a children's bereavement camp is held at the Valley Youth House, Camp Fowler in Orefield. This unique camping experience is offered free of charge for children aged 8-16 who have experienced a loss through the death of a loved one.
Campers engage in a variety of fun activities directed by professionals. We need volunteers who can encourage interaction with peers and supervise age-appropriate groups through arts and crafts, physical activities, games, songs and discussions. This camp serves children in 20 counties in south central PA into the Lehigh Valley.
Volunteers must commit to staying the weekend and stay at the campsite. Background and child abuse clearance will be mandatory at the expense of Sacred Heart Home Care & Hospice, SpiriTrust Lutheran.

Description
Volunteers are the heart of a non-profit, faith based organization like Sacred Heart Hospice-SpiriTrust Lutheran. Our volunteers enjoy the role they play in caring for older adults and families in south central and northeastern Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. They feel a great sense of personal satisfaction devoting their time and talents to helping others. An added benefit is that recent studies show volunteering results in lower rates of depression and less incidence of heart disease for the volunteer!
