Join the Whatcom County Marine Resources Committee (MRC), the Northwest Straits Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, and the North Sound Kiteboarding Association (NSKA) at Whirlwind Beach, also known as Locust Beach, to help remove trash and other debris and to collect valuable data on marine debris alongside cleanups organized globally. Be sure to dress for the weather and we’ll bring the gear for the cleanup. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is part of Whatcom Water Weeks, so be sure to check out other local events relating to water September 6-20 th.

To get to Whirlwind (formerly known as Locust), heading from downtown Bellingham, head down Holly Street, continue onto Eldridge to Marine Drive. Make a left onto Locust Ave. and please park respectfully on the side of the road or in the Bellingham Kiteboarding Community Center lot on the right. Walk down to the end of the road and follow the trail on the right-hand side directly after walking under the train tracks. This will take you to Whirlwind Beach and our meeting area!

Please dress for the weather. We will provide light refreshments and beach cleanup materials.

Please contact Eleanor Hines at 215-287-0043 or nws@surfrider.org for more information.
