Office assistant responsibilities: Assist with a variety of tasks including: stuffing envelopes, phone calls, photocopies, filing, computer work, order supplies, track statistics, etc. Qualifications: Ability to work with staff and other volunteers; enjoy different types of work assignments. Training: On-site. Importance of Job: This position enables staff to devote more time to create new programs. Office Assistant--on-call helper responsibilities: Same as above; however, an On-Call Helper is not tied to a specific schedule and time commitment can be 2 hours or more per month, as needed.Office Assistant--senior services links responsibilities: The Senior Services Link program helps link seniors and their families with needed information and services throughout the Bay Area. Responsible include, but are not limited to; contact clients in our SASH (Shopping Assistance for Homebound Seniors) on a monthly basis to see how the service is working out, provide clerical/computer support to the Senior Center Staff. Time Commitment: Approximately 2 to 3 hours per week. Qualifications: Ages 18 and up. Basic computer experience is helpful. Training: 1 to 2 hours initial training and then as needed. Importance of Job: Clients in the SASH program typically receive minimal outside contact. Each month we touch base with our clients to see how things are going and provide other resources/services if necessary. The phone services as a connection to the community for services, some seniors might not receive much needed services.

We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
