Do you love dogs? Are you 18 or over? Want to help rescued dogs find new homes? You can benefit our rescue dogs by becoming a large dog walker. Volunteers take dogs out for 15 minute walks four times per day. This provides the dogs with the socialization, exercise, and potty breaks needed to keep them happy and healthy. Volunteers in this position must be able to deal with adverse weather conditions, (we walk the dogs rain or shine), and be in good-to-moderate physical condition because of the high level of physical activity involved. Volunteers interact with dogs of various sizes, shapes, breeds and manners. We are particularly looking for volunteers who can walk large, strong dogs weighing 60lbs or more.
Additionally, you will be required to assist with cleaning cages and the dog room. Please be prepared to get dirty!
Training required: Dog Walkers are required to complete a volunteer application and receive on-site training on proper dog walking procedures. Volunteers must also be committed to using the handling and training protocols outlined by BCP&R's policy, be receptive to feedback and have a willingness to learn. Due to the nature of the project, please be sure to wear long pants and sneaker or boots.
