NATIONAL RIVER CLEANUP DAY Saturday, May 16, 2015 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Hellyer County Park Millions of tons of trash end up in our nation’s rivers and streams every year. National River Cleanup Day is a great opportunity help keep our natural lands beautiful and healthy for all to enjoy. Volunteers will help reach our goal of removing as much trash, debris and recyclables as possible from our waterways. National River Cleanup Day is also a great way to fulfill community service requirements. Individuals, clubs, classes and other groups are welcome and encouraged to participate. Volunteers will meet at 9:00 a.m. next to Cottonwood Lake in the west parking lot in Hellyer County Park, 985 Hellyer Avenue in San Jose. Pre-registration is required. No special skills are needed. Please wear long pants and sturdy shoes, and bring a long-sleeved shirt, sunscreen and a water bottle. All necessary tools and gloves are provided. All registered volunteers will receive a confirmation notice prior to the event, including a map and final details. For more information on local waterway cleanup efforts, visit www.cleanacreek.org. Volunteers under age 18 must have a parent/legal guardian sign a volunteer waiver before they can participate in the event. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the event.

Since 1924, when Stevens Creek County Park was established, people have given their time and talents to help make Santa Clara County Parks special places to visit. In 2010, nearly 2000 volunteers donated over 40,000 hours of service to a variety of projects and programs.
