Are you interested in coordinating a donation drive of different items for homeless men, women and children? There are many great ways you can help the men, women, and families we serve by donating a range of in-kind donations. One of the many ways you can donate your time and energy is to organize a donation drive. Running a donation drive is a great way to get your community, company, church, school, or other group involved in supporting Compass Housing Alliance. Some ideas for donation drives -Organize a SOCK drive to help people living on the street warm -Organize a HYGIENE PRODUCT drive to help people living in our shelters -Organize a TOLIET PAPER drive for veterans living in transitional housing -Organize a reusable coffee cup drive for folks throughout our programs -Organize a TOWELS, TWIN SHEETS, PILLOWS, and or BLANKETS drive for people living in our shelters and transitional housing. Basic tips for organizing a donation drive 1. Pick a cause and or item that is important to you. 2. Reach out to the Volunteer Specialist at Compass Housing Alliance to talk about how you can partner with us and organize a donation drive. 3. Make a plan, set dates, and organize among your friends, co-workers, and or community. 4. Plan when, where, and for how long to accept the donations. 5. Plan how you might want to promote the drive and get the word out before the start date. Tell people why this cause is important to you and about where their donations will go. 6. Be clear about guidelines for the donations you are accepting. Do they have to be new or can they be lightly used? 7. When the drive is finished, get a group together to sort through the donation and see that everything people donated were items you asked for. 8. Coordinate with the Volunteer Specialist to drop off the donations. 9. Reflect on your experience, what went well, what you would want to improve for next time? 10. Know that your generosity, time, and donations will touch the lives of many who receive services at Compass Housing Alliance.
