The Pioneer Square Men’s Program provides sheltering and services for 78 homeless men. Services include case management, career support, hygiene facilities and 3 meals a day. The facility has an industrial kitchen. The Pioneer Square Men’s Program is looking for groups of volunteers to plan, purchase, prepare, and serve a brunch for our residents on Saturday or Sunday. Volunteer Groups should arrive at 9:30 and the meal is served at 11am. Meal Provider Volunteers supply complete meals to the Men’s Program: Volunteers must shop for, purchase, and prepare the entire meal. Volunteers must make enough food for 80 people. Volunteers may cook their food off-site, or use the complete kitchen at the Men’s Program Volunteers help serve their meal to the shelter’s guests. Volunteers are also encouraged to eat with guests. We require the following minimum qualifications for Dinner Server volunteers: All volunteers must be 18 or older. All volunteers must be able to stand for long periods of time. All volunteers must be able to interact with clients in a respectful manner.
NOTE: This volunteer opportunity requires planning, purchasing and preparing a meal. We have other volunteer availabilities to assist serving a meal to our guests without the responsibility of preparing and providing the entire meal. Compass Housing Alliance provides a range of essential services and housing options to people struggling with homelessness and poverty in the Seattle area. With 20+ locations, we are able to serve a large number of those in the community.
Our focus areas fall into the following categories:
- Services, shelter, and transitional housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
- Permanent low-income housing for individuals or families who do not make a living wage or are formerly homeless.
- Development of affordable housing units for low-income tenants.
