As we watch our brothers and sisters struggle to obtain equal rights here in Idaho with the "Add the Words" bill being shut down, it has never been more pressing for active involvement here at ALPHA. If you disagree with the various stigma people are forced to face and have a more progressive vision then we need to hear from you.
This past fiscal year, ALPHA took roughly $70,000 in state and federal budget cuts. At the same time, however, we boosted the amount of food from 7,000 to nearly 35,000lbs. of food through our food pantry which assists those infected or affected by HIV. Why is this? Because volunteering is -and will always be- the lifeblood of ALPHA. Please consider us to volunteer with.
We are always in need of cordial, outgoing people to assist us with office support/receptionist. Working the front desk means you will be the face of ALPHA.
Looking to get involved coordinating our fun and exciting events? Our events committee meeting is every second Friday at 2pm. We love it when people bring new ideas to the table. Description
Allies Linked for the Prevention HIV and AIDS (ALPHA) is a community based non-profit organization that has been providing HIV related services to the Treasure Valley and Southern Idaho since 2003. Alpha is the largest community based HIV testing program in the State of Idaho, providing around 1,000 free and confidential rapid HIV tests a year as well as rapid hepatitis C testing and conventional testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. In addition to testing, alpha distributes approximately 50,000 condoms each year, is home to the MPowerment BOI project and the Desert Pause Retreat, and provides supportive services to people living with or affected by HIV and AIDS through the alpha Choice Food Pantry and the Linkage and Retention in Care program. Allies Linked for the Prevention of HIV and AIDS also provides educational opportunities on-site and in the community on topics such as HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, harm reduction, overdose prevention, stigma, and many others as well as advocates for the modernization of HIV laws and an end to discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ people, people who use drugs, and anyone at risk of acquiring HIV.
