Math Instructor for Adult Literacy Program

Resources to Empower is looking for Volunteer Instructors (VI) to teach math classes for our evening adult literacy progams. VIs will administer interim assessments for internal monitoring; complete progress reports to assess clients' progress; use curriculum materials and course syllabi provided for instructional purposes; refer clients in need of targeted assistance to Volunteer Tutors (VT)s; and design supplemental learning materials, if necessary, for clients in need of additional resources. VIs must have a Bachelor's degree in the subject or a related area that is tutored but may or may not have taught adults before. VIs must be able to teach the full length of course (usually 6 months) for two hours per week in the evenings between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All volunteers must submit a volunteer application, provide a copy of their I.D., complete a level II background check, and complete a volunteer orientation/training before beginning.
