Celebrate Valentine's Day by showing love and compassion to families in need. Come help sort, repack and distribute food to hungry families at the Ravenswood Outdoor Market Pantry in the Northside of Chicago. This food pantry is setup like a farmer's market outside a school courtyard and allows neighbors to select fresh produce, meat, dairy items and shelf-stable food.

Dress code: No open toe shoes allow. Gloves will be provided for you when handling produce and meat. This is an outdoor event, dress in layers and prepare for any weather. Bring some bottled water with you as you will be standing outside for 3 hours. It will be cold in the early morning but will warm up fast once you start moving. This event takes place rain or shine, be prepared for all weather conditions.
The Market Pantry represents a partnership between the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD), Ravenswood Community Services (RCS) and Ravenswood School to bring a nutritious mix of groceries to neighborhood families in need of food assistance.
Meet in the school court yard at the North West corner of Montrose and Paulina. Report to Wilson or Parker.
We will be working with several other volunteer groups, around 50 volunteers total and distibuting 4000 to 8000 pounds of food, and and serving over 200+ families, many are seniors and children.
Limited free street parking available in the area, usually on the main streets like Montrose, Ashland and Ravenswood. Side streets may be full with residential cars. Event is near CTA Brown Line Montrose station, as well as Ashland, Clark and Montrose bus lines.

We have calendar of volunteer events for every day of the year, and over 4000 volunteers seeking and creating new service opportunities to share with each other to help build, improve and strengthen our community.
Join our free Meetup group and help our large and active community of volunteers to do good while having fun. Our Calendar of events works on your schedule. You pick the event that fits the day and time and your interest.
Our Members keep tabs on opportunities all over the city and surrounding suburbs and share them with each other. Everybody is allow to post service events on the main calendar and share their passions and get support by fellow members.
We have volunteer events supporting all causes, including nature conservation and clean up, after school programs, tutoring for kids, animal wellfare and protection, spending time with seniors in nursing homes, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, refugee advocacy, food pantries, knitting for babies in hospitals, and much more. If you do not see your cause listed, then you can share and post something you want us to support, and we will come help.
