Traveling Exhibition Volunteers work in the Visitor & School Engagement Department to deliver exciting and memorable experiences for guests to Great Lakes Science Center and serve primarily to enhance programming in traveling exhibitions such as Mythbusters: the Explosive Exhibition ™ to open February 7, 2015.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage guests throughout the traveling exhibition gallery in a number of ways:

  • Interpreting exhibit installations
  • Facilitating design challenges using Duct Tape TM
  • Performing hands-on engagement opportunities through Mobile Science Explorer Carts and pocket props about discrepant events.

By interacting with visitors of all ages to enhance their understanding of science concepts and provide them with a memorable, fun experience, you can inspire our guests and make sure they come back.

Traveling Exhibition Volunteers are essential to the Visitor & School Engagement department and we are looking for friendly, outgoing volunteers to join our team and help make STEM come alive! Do you enjoy speaking with people? Are you a lifelong learner? Consider joining our team to learn how you can inspire our guests.

Mission Statement

Our mission is simple: to make Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) come alive. The Science Center envisions a community where all people value science, technology, engineering and math to inform decision-making and enrich lives.

Description

Great Lakes Science Center, home of the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, makes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) come alive for more than 300,000 visitors a year through hundreds of hands-on exhibits, temporary exhibitions, the Cleveland Clinic DOME Theater, historic Steamship William G. Mather, daily science demonstrations, seasonal camps, and more. The Science Center is funded in part by the citizens of Cuyahoga County through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. Visit GreatScience.com for more information.

Volunteers are an integral part of our workshops, science shows, special events and the overall welcoming atmosphere of fun and curiosity cultivated by the Science Center. Volunteers assist our guest engagement staff, man our information desk, lead tours aboard the historic Steamship William G. Mather and so much more. Our Volunteers enjoy bringing our exhibits to life with additional information and new ways to interact with and learn from them. Creating amazing stories for our visitors through answering questions, one-on-one interaction, and mind-blowing science demonstrations ensures that both the volunteer's, and the guest's, experience is a memorable one.
