Mission Statement
Our mission is to curtail the high school dropout rate and at the same time increase college enrollment among underserved and underrepresented youth. Our year-
round outreach program connects students directly to colleges, provides scholarships, and offers tutorial programs for college preparation. In addition, our outreach program provides guidance for student-athletes and connects students high school and college students to career and internship opportunities. These comprehensive outreach activities continue to produce productive citizens in a diverse and competitive world who will positively impact their communities and our nation.
Description
In 1997 Proposition 209 banned affirmative action policies, which traditionally helped minorities get into a college. As a result, enrollment dropped sharply among minorities.
Jabez 3 Enterprises, now National College Resources Foundation saw an opportunity to expose alternative higher educational options, via Historically black Colleges and Universities, to the African American youth and other minorities
It was discovered at that time, less than 3% of enrollment at HBCU's came from California, coupled with the fact that our youth was thirsty for an event catered just for them.
In 2000 the annual Black College Expo emerged.
Almost 13 years later, enrollment in HBCU's from California resident's have increased dramatically as a result of the Black College Expo, and in some cases, as much as 50%.
