ORGANIZATION: Boys Hope Girls Hope of Kansas City

Right here in Kansas City there are academically capable and motivated boys in search of an opportunity to gain HOPE for a brighter future. Boys Hope Girls Hope of Kansas City (BHGH of KC) provides boys in-need, as young as 10 years old, with a safe family-like home and a college preparatory education. We believe, "One child, given the opportunity to rise above his circumstances, improves society, can change a community and can impact the world for good."

Join our Summer Job/Internships Sub-Committee and help our scholars and collegians network and gain work experience! We are looking for individuals who could find summer jobs/internships and coach our scholars and collegians on how to apply and perform in an interview; as well as coaching them throughout the experience.

Please contact Hannah Miller, Community Resource Coordinator, for more information by emailing hmiller@bhgh.org or calling 913.381.1030.

Mission Statement

Boys Hope Girls Hope of Kansas City nurtures and guides motivated young people in need to become well-educated, career-ready men for others.

Description

Boys come to live in our family-like home as early as 5th grade and remain part of our program through college graduation. When a boy becomes a scholar in our program, he enrolls with one of our college preparatory educational partners. We supplement their education with a rigorous academic program outside of school, along with life coaching, health and wellness services, college selection, admission, and persistence, and career exploration. At this time we serve boys only, but we plan to open a home for girls in the next five years.

There are so many ways to volunteer with us, and we hope you will join us in coming alongside motivated youth in need as they become well-educated, career-ready men for others.
