Be an event volunteer and help children and adults with physical disabilities in developing countries! Steps to Healing is Mobility Outreach International’s most prominent annual fundraiser. We have a variety of positions for individuals and groups! Special Event Volunteers play a vital role at this event - welcoming guests, setting up, tearing down, assembling auction packages, assisting with registration, selling raffle tickets and more! Shifts are 4 hours - and the time flies, we have so much fun! Mobility Outreach International needs volunteers to help with our 13th annual dinner and auction benefit that will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, WA. Volunteer positions available (See below for full descriptions of each): Baggers -- 8 Decorating and Set-up -- 6 Live Auction Spotters -- 4 Raffle Ticket Sellers/Wine Toss -- 6 Registration & Data Entry -- 8 Silent Auction Closers -- 6 Dessert Dash Lead -- 1 Runners -- 4 Live Auction Recorder - 1 Live Auction Promoter - 1 Floaters -- 4 Volunteer Room Host -- 2 Take-Down -- All the help we can get Please note: You can volunteer for multiple roles All volunteers must be over 18yrs, unless accompanied by a volunteering parent or guardian. Volunteers are expected to work the entire shift To volunteer, please e-mail info@mobilityoi.org ROLE DESCRIPTIONS: With the exception of Registration and Data-entry volunteers, who will need to stay in that role all night, volunteers may volunteer for more than one role. Volunteer roles include: Decorating and Set-up: For creative people, those who pay attention to detail, and enjoy making displays marketable and enticing for guests. Arrive at the venue on the day of the event to set-up and decorate. Live Auction Bid Spotter: Spotting bids and encouraging guests’ participation. Very outgoing and energetic. On their feet through the live auction. Raffle/ Wine Toss: Most outgoing role, experience in sales and/ or the organizations mission is a bonus, can stand long periods Registration/ Data Entry / Cashiering: First and last point of contact with guests. Friendly, comfortable with filing, data entry and long periods of both standing and sitting. Silent Auction Closer and Item Redemption: Monitor silent items for early sales and close according to announcements. Immediately following closings items are packaged and tagged, set up auction retrieval and assist guest with retrieval. Strong attention to detail necessary. Long periods of standing and lifting Dessert Dash Lead: Monitors and promotes the dessert dash during the cocktail hour. Works with assistant to collect and tally all dessert bid forms and turn over to data processing. Live Auction Runner: Transport information from live auction to data processing, comfortable on feet for long periods of time. Young Adults fill this role well. Live Auction Recorder: Keep record of every sale or donation during the live auction. Great attention to detail with good hearing. No consumption of alcohol before or during the shift. Seated position with almost no guest interaction. Live Auction Promoter: Assists in promoting the tangible live items by modeling during the sale then label (mark) with bid information once sold. Long periods of standing and lifting. Floater: Walks around the event and fills in where there is an additional person needed. This person must be willing to be flexible and they may have to stand for long periods of time. Volunteer Room Host: Keeps an eye on the volunteer room, keeps the food replenished, and makes sure the room is tidy. This role is great for someone who needs to be seated for most of the time. Take Down: When the event is over, MOi staff need help loading both small and big items into their cars. You will use your muscle and strength to help pack and load items. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
