Mardi Gras Volunteering

We are looking for volunteers to assist with the set-up of the event. You will be able to attend the event.

Community Connections’ Annual Mardi Gras event will be here before you know it. Be sure to get your tickets for this fun evening featuring authentic Cajun food, live music and more! Mark your calendar for February 12th and join us at the Garden Club of Jacksonville for a fantastic evening under the oaks, all for a great cause!
After purchasing your tickets to the event, you can enter our Jacksonville’s Top Krewe Contest by forming a krewe of up to 10 friends or coworkers, making a creative mask and emailing a photo of the mask to info@communityconnectionsjax.org by Feb. 2nd. Photos will be uploaded to Community Connections Jacksonville Facebook page for voting, the krewe whose mask gets the most votes wins. The winning krewe will receive a complimentary ride to the festivities in a Jacksonville Party Bus. After cruising around for an hour prior to the festivities, they will receive paparazzi treatment when they arrive at the Garden Club. The contest is open to the first 10 krewes only, so contestants are encouraged to act fast. Voting closes after Feb. 9th.

About Community Connections

Location:

327 East Duval Street, Jacksonville, FL 32203, US

Mission Statement

Healing homelessness and fighting poverty one life at a time.

Description

Homeless women. Homeless children. Homeless families. Community Connections serves the invisible homeless - the ones you don't see because they're busy putting their lives back together. Over 300 homeless families were helped last year.

We operate a childcare center that cares for the homeless children from the local shelters as well as the children of our own residents in the homeless transitions program. We provide all the support services required to help these women, children and familes re-gain independence and self-sufficiency and become productive members of society. We provide literacy and adult education opportunities; financial planning; soft and hard job skills training; parenting classes, afterschool programs, mentoring and homework assisdtance and tutoring. Our Healthy Families programs served 750 people in 13 zip-codes, providing young parents with the skills needed to ensure success for their children, and significantly reducing the risk of child neglect and abuse among high risk families. After school and summer camp programs provided a safe place for 3800 children to grow and develop, learn and try out their wings of independence. We believe that with your help we can make a difference in our community - one life at a time.
