ECOMB is a Florida 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit, volunteer based corporation founded in 1994 in the city of Miami Beach. The organization is dedicated to the promotion of environmental sustainability and the preservation of our community’s ecology. ECOMB’s commitment is supported by the development and implementation of various programs in an effort to achieve a reduced amount of litter on our beaches, increase the county's rate of recycling, as well as preserve and restore our sensitive ecosystem.
AVAILABLE POSITION: Cinema Green and the Miami & the Beaches Environmental Film Festival Volunteer
Cinema Green is a partnership project with the Miami Beach Cinematheque and consists on monthly screenings of environmental documentaries of local and global concern at the new Cinematheque Theater, Miami Beach. The first Miami & the Beaches Environmental Film Festival in South Florida was held in October 2011 and featured the world-famous Cousteau family. The Festival is an annual event and it usually takes place in October.
Commitment: minimum of 10 hours/week
Project Length: on going, however a minimum commitment of 6 months is requested.
JOB DESCRIPTION: We are currently seeking an experienced intern to help with the annual Film festival.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify categories of regional and global environmental issues
- Research environmental film sites for films that meet project criteria
- Investigate film screening rights
- Source film synopsis and image for web site and email campaign posting
- Liaison with Cinematheque and ECOMB to schedule monthly film series
- Develop contact database for relevant media, local schools and universities for promotional purposes
- Create Press Releases for local media, respond to emails and phone calls regarding Cinema Green
- Coordinate event staff and ECOMB display at Cinematheque
- Identify potential sponsors for the film series and Film Festival
The ideal candidate would possess an environmental science or film background or interest, as well as knowledge of Mac computer systems, Word and Excel, etc.
This is not a paid position; however, due to the rapid growth of ECOMB, future compensation could be feasible. In addition to interacting with the local community, other environmental non-profits, professionals in the green and film industries, as well as local political leaders, the hands-on work experience will be a great addition to anyone's resume. Our office is located in South Beach at our new Miami Beach Center for the Environment.
We are looking for assertive, motivated individuals, university/college students, and environmental activists interested in getting involved with one of the most prominent GREEN environmental non-profits in Miami-Dade County.
*University/College Students: we will work with your university if an internship is required or necessary for credits.

To encourage community members to adopt new lifestyle practices that are more environmentally sustainable.
