ABOUT SERVICE DOC:

Service DOC is a public benefit organization that intends to meet the needs of independent study and charter school students by providing programs that foster community and support a commitment to life-long learning, positive values, healthy habits and high expectations for success as an adult. DOC is a three-part acronym that stands for Developing Our Children with a Depth Of Commitment as Disciples of Christ.

Education & Career Program Volunteers:

Volunteers in these programs will help students achieve state mandated academic requirements. Services in this category will provide opportunities for career exploration as well as help students become responsible independent study students. Volunteers need to possess the ability to offer basic tutoring for core middle and high school subject classes (math, english, science, history), facilitate physical education classes, teach a class on at least one core subject to middle school and/or high school aged students, and lead community service projects.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • 1-2 years of experience working with middle school and/or high school students
  • A valid drivers license with a clean driving record
  • Basic public speaking ability
  • Ability to agree to and adhere to the policies, practices and beliefs held by Service Doc

Minimum Commitment:

We ask that all volunteers commit to a minimum of once a week for at least one month so that trust and a rapport can be built with the students.

Special Note:

As Service DOC grows volunteers who qualify may be ask to come on board as part-time employees so if you are looking for a consistent opportunity to work with and impact the lives of our future generation, this would be a great opportunity for you!

Come share your abilities and heart for teens through a variety of volunteer opportunities within the fields of academics, athletics and service learning!
