Mission Statement

"It is our mission to help students develop the skills and confidence they need to achieve excellence in the performing arts toward excellence and success in every endeavor"

Description

In 1998, the Academy began by offering private piano and keyboard lessons to children who lived in Brooklyn. Mut Hefen Sa-Akhi, an accomplished teacher and composer, helped youngsters learn how to play the piano and much more.

From the start, we have used music to teach youngsters (and the young at heart) values necessary to sustain a community and advance its people. Wrapped around music lessons are activities designed to foster a strong sense of community, self-reliance, confidence, and mutual respect. These were accompanied by wholesome food prepared by Ser-t Hepausura and information on nutrition, entrepreneurship, and education.

Now we teach piano, guitar, bass, drums, violin, voice, recorder and dance as well as music theory and composition. We offer Band, String Ensemble, Rhythm Orchestra and in the summer, drama and lots of trips.

We have now added our second location, 794-814 Flatbush Avenue at Caton Avenue, where we teach Dance and Senior Adult Piano Keyboard.
