Do you have the desire to teach youth how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers, and consumers? If so, we need you to be a Junior Achievement Volunteer!!

Junior Achievement is searching for volunteers to lead preplanned lessons that help to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, understand business and economics, and be workforce ready. As a Junior Achievement volunteer you will make a difference in the lives of students by developing:

· The desire in young people to stay in school and appreciate lifelong learning.

· Positive attitudes in young people toward work and toward contributing to a diverse society.

· Business and education partnerships that create a bridge between the classroom and the workplace.

JA will provide training and all the materials.

Time Commitment for a High School class is usually 1 observation and 7 classroom visits, typically done once or twice a week. Each lesson takes 55 minutes to 1 hour. Activities are interactive, hands-on, and designed to be taught by individuals who are not teachers.

Volunteers are matched with a classroom of students and the meeting schedule is determined between the teacher and volunteer to best accommodate all involved during school hours.

Volunteers must sign and abide by Junior Achievement's Volunteer Conduct Policy. They must participate in a 2 hour training prior to beginning the program and be available to work with students during the normal school day. Volunteers for this class must have at least 3 years professional background.

Required Skills

*3-5 years of professional full time business experience

*Good opportunity for working professionals and retirees

*Typically be able to commit 2 hours per week for 8 weeks to a classroom during school hours

*Good communication/literacy skills

*Must enjoy working with teenagers
