Mission Statement

PADV works to end the crime of intimate partner violence and to empower its survivors.

Description

Partnership Against Domestic Violence (formerly the Council on Battered Women) began as a volunteer agency in 1975. The organization became incorporated in 1977. Today the agency has over 40 full and part-time staff with an administrative office in Decatur and two 24-hour emergency shelters in Fulton and Gwinnett Counties.

Volunteer Qualifications

  • All volunteers must be 18 years old or older. Due to state regulations, we are not allowed to have minors volunteer or accompany volunteers in the shelters.
  • Many PADV volunteers are survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV). However, if you are a survivor of IPV or have experienced a loss due to IPV, we ask that you wait a minimum of 12 months before volunteering as a Direct Service volunteer with PADV.
  • In order to maintain continuity of service and effective communication, we prefer that shelter volunteers sign up for an average of a minimum of four hours per month.
  • Volunteering opportunities at PADV are NOT available for those who are looking to fulfill court-ordered community service requirements.
