Our Mission is to "help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling." Overview: Local volunteers offer a unique insider’s perspective to our hostel guests. By leading walking tours, volunteers create the opportunity for hostellers to learn more about the historical and cultural relevance of the area and have a one on one encounter with a local expert. Key Responsibilities: Lead a group of hostellers on a local area walking tour. Speak about specific points of interest. Research and develop (add to) historical and culturally accurate script Downtown Tour We are currently seeking volunteers to lead 1 or 2 tours a month of Downtown Los Angeles. Downtown is an up and coming, yet culturally significant area of Los Angeles that most tourists will never get to see without a tour like this. You will meet them at our hostel in Santa Monica and head downtown via the Big Blue Bus to Downtown. Once there, you will provide a nice walking tour of many of the important sites of the area including: Disney Concert Hall, Olvera Street, Grand Central Market, Angel's Flight and more. Getty Center Tour We are also seeking volunteers for our Getty Center tour. Ideally, volunteers could lead 1 or 2 Getty tours a month. You will meet our guests in our hostel and head to the bus stop. You can give some fun facts about the Getty on the way or when you get there. You will then walk around the museum ensuring guests are having a good time. You will gather them and get them safely back to the hostel. Venice Beach Tour The third walking tour we are accepting volunteers for is our Venice Beach tour. You will gather guests, take them to Venice and walk down the strip with them while providing information for them on such things as: Muscle Beach, the art walls and the skate park. You will end at the canals and make sure guests get back safely at the end. Sorry we don't offer work for trade.
