The Jesse Tree of Idaho offers one time rent assistance and case management to clients. A housing inspection is requred by Housing and Urban Development before funds are released. A volunteer inspector is needed to assist the main inspector during times of increased demand and to cover when the main inspector is on vacation. Must be very flexible and able to schedule inspections with clients during times they request. Training will be provided as will necessary tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make appointments with clients to visit their home
- Complete home inspections using the HUD Quality Inspection form
- Determine if home passes the inspection
- Make recommendations for needed repairs
- Complete follow up visit once repairs are complete
- Call in.email the results of the home inspection to the Program Manager by the next business day after the inspection is completed
- Complete paperwork and submit to the office
- Maintain confidentiality of information
Expected Commitment:
- Hours are flexible; make own arrangement with client for the home inspection; between 1 and 5 hours a week
- Must have own transportation
- Be available by phone or computer to receive assignments
Training/Support:
- Volunteer Orientation
- Shadow Home Inspector
- Program Manager/staff is available for questions and assistance
- Ongoing Staff Meetings
Age Requirement:
- 18 years or older
Dress Code:
- Business Casual
Qualifications:
- Current driver’s license, pleasant manner, problem solving ability, dependable, ability to complete paperwork, basic understanding of confidentiality

Jesse Tree works with families and individuals in our community who are experiencing a financial and housing crisis and unable to pay rent, providing needed support so they can stay in their homes. Clients are provided with crisis counseling, family and landlord mediation, referrals to other needed services and resources, budgeting and financial literacy assistance, management program, and, as needed, rental assistance. We provide just what's needed to help a household establish stability and financial independence moving forward. Since 1999, Jesse Tree has assisted over 3,000 families and 8,000 individuals, administering over $2.5 million in rental assistance.
