Mission Statement
Guiding Parents, Inc. is a 501c3 organization dedicated to empowering and supporting mothers, fathers and legal guardians of babies and toddlers in New York City.
Guiding Parents addresses unexpected challenges of parenting through emotional and social one-on-one support and a Lecture Series. Our activities encourage emotional well-being and personal growth by providing a strong support network and additional opportunities for learning and networking among other parents.
Description
There are thousands of mothers and fathers in New York City that are in need of Guiding Parents' services because they:
Are overwhelmed new parents who are facing unexpected challenges of parenting
Have little or no support from their community, family and friends
Are unable to cope with the additional responsibilities of parenthood
Are experiencing loneliness, isolation, insecurity, stress and fear as a new parent
We started this organization because we saw a strong need for new parents to connect with other parents in the city. New parents often look for shared experiences and connection with other parents - moms and dads who have already been in his or her shoes and can guide them through challenges.
Guiding Parents is committed to matching new parents with experienced parents for enriching and fulfilling one-to-one emotional and social support, parenting tips and other resourceful information. Program activities will encourage emotional well-being, personal growth and family balance by providing a strong support network and enriching events for New York City parents.
In order to accomplish this task, we invite you to use your own family experience in a helpful and productive way. Participate in Guiding Parents initiatives by signing up to become a Support Parent Volunteer, Administrative Volunteer or Board Officer. Send any questions about how you can get involved to Michelle Francis .
