"Fall for the Forest Preserves"

On Saturday, May 19th, the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County will be celebrating local nature with our multicultural bilingual public event, "Nature Fiesta" at Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve in Cherry Valley! Nature Fiesta includes a variety of environmental education activities designed to connect families and individuals with our local nature. Guided hikes, exhibits, games and crafts will help teach about monarchs, birds, wildflowers, rivers and other topics that can be explored in parks and natural areas through the summer!

Your help is needed in the following areas (bilingual interpreters are especially needed, but all volunteers are welcome):

  • Welcome Table
  • Arts and Crafts Station
  • Monarch Station
  • River Station
  • Pollinator Station
  • Bird Station
  • Wildflower Station
  • River Walk - guided hike
  • Wildflower Walk - guided hike
  • Parking Management
