In conjunction with our longtime partner Charter Oak Communities (formerly known as the Stamford Housing Authority), Family Centers is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to conduct a weekly sittercise or yoga sittercise for the Glenbrook Manor residents (10 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, CT 06902). The majority of the residents are over 65; however, some are young disabled adults. The residents are eager to have an exercise class in their community room. We are asking that the volunteer commit to leading the class once a week on Monday afternoons (preferable). This is a perfect opportunity for someone looking for a set schedule of volunteering in the community and face to face volunteer experience.

Family Centers' mission is to empower children, adults, families and communities to realize their potential. Our NAEYC accredited preschools, school-based social work, parental education and adolescent counseling services, give families the resources they need to ensure their children have the bright beginnings they deserve. A comprehensive network of counseling and support services is also instrumental in helping families in crisis work toward a successful resolution. Vocational training, housing resources, counseling and self sufficiency programs also help low-income people and those with long-term mental illness realize their dreams of living independently.
