Support our Health Education Team at one of our cervical health awareness programs called Pocketbooks for Paps! The Health Ed team will be hosting educational workshops and discussions helping our clients learn about the importance of regular pap smear exams. Clients who are eligible and choose to have a pap smear will receive a pocketbook as encouragement for maintaining their health. Volunteers can help by encouraging client participation, registering attendees, distributing incentives, and much more! Care for the Homeless is the only health care organization in New York City that is dedicated exclusively to serving homeless men, women, and children of all ages. For 30 years, our organization has been providing healthcare to homeless individuals in New York City at drop-in centers, soup kitchens, shelters, and through street outreach.

About Care For the Homeless

Location:

30 East 33rd street, 5th Fl, New York, NY 10016, US

Mission Statement

Care For the Homeless fights homelessness by delivering high-quality and client-centered health care, human services and shelter to homeless individuals and families, and by advocating for policies to ameliorate, prevent and end homelessness.

Description

Care For the Homeless (CFH) serves 10,000 homeless men, women, and children annually and provides comprehensive health care at multiple sites co-located at soup kitchens, shelters, drop-in centers and street outreach programs in all 5 boroughs of NYC. Our service delivery model provides care where homeless individuals and families are receiving a variety of other services with the goal of reducing barriers to accessing high-quality health care. CFH also operates three transitional housing sites with on-site health care and is expanding shelter services in the future, ensuring a safe, supportive path to permanent housing.

In addition, CFH is committed to ending homelessness by conducting public education, research, and analysis of model programs and practices that create permanent housing opportunities, and by shaping policies to prevent future homelessness.
