ORGANIZATION: Support The Enlisted Project (STEP)

Support the Enlisted Project (STEP) is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to assist in the coordination, tracking and appreciation of an engaged, expanding and effective corps of volunteers. The Director of Volunteers is responsible for working with the staff to coordinate all engagement opportunities, recruiting efforts and communication with existing and potential volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate long-term volunteer opportunities for interested volunteers
  • Develop and maintain an excellent communication strategy for new and existing volunteers
  • Orient volunteers to increase their understanding of the organization, its clients, its services and the role and responsibilities of volunteers
  • Work with staff to ensure that volunteers are given appropriate training to be successful in their positions
  • Ensure that volunteer check-in procedures are followed and records of volunteer hours are maintained according to established procedures
  • Plan and implement formal and informal volunteer recognition activities to recognize the contribution of volunteers to the organization

  • Develop, implement and execute plan to increase volunteer engagement with STEP

  • Plan annual volunteer appreciation event

STEP assists junior active duty enlisted members and recently discharged enlisted veterans and their families in Southern California facing financial crisis achieve long term financial self-sufficiency through counseling, educations and grants to alleviate critical near term obligations.

Description

Volunteers are implemented in every part of the nonprofit, and is vital to reach our mission of supporting these military families. We need consistent help with sorting donated items, as well as administrative and holiday program support.
