Mentors meet with a group of approximately four 7 th grade students once a week for a 10 week period to guide the planning and implementation of an bioengineering project which will help a common complaint seen by physical therapists. Whether the problem is sitting up in bed or putting on shoes, students will create a device to help solve the issue! Sessions will begin with identifying the problem and conclude with a prototype. After the ten sessions are completed, volunteers will virtually review the students' work in preparation of a school based STEM competition. Winnners from this competition will move on to a multi-school competition judged by Bioengineering students at the University of Pennsylvania. This curriculum was developed as part of a collaboration between iPraxis and Penn's Graduate Association of Bioengineering.
