Join our Spiritual Care Team and answer the call to serve the spiritual needs of our angels (clients) at Christian Community Action (CCA). Our volunteers play a very important role in helping angels and their families through difficult times, regardless of their personal faith backgrounds or belief systems. Spiritual Care Volunteers make initial contact with our angels and provide on-site spirtual care through pastoral counseling and/or the ministry of presence. The expectation of service is at least four hours per week and a minimum commitment of three months.
To be considered, Spiritual Care Volunteer applicants must:
- Be a member of a Christian Church, in good standing
- Be committed to our Mission, Core Values and Statement of Faith
- Be a graduate of an accredited college, university or seminary (theological education preferred)
- Commit to three months in ministry program
- Be ordained, licensed or officially recognized as a spirtual leader*
In addition, Spritual Care Volunteer applicants mus have the:
- Willingness to work with and meet the spiritual needs of people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to minister to others in an institutional setting
- Capacity to remain calm in crisis and other stressful situations
- Ability to provide caring interations within an ecumenical setting
The position also requires Spiritual Care Volunteers to:
- Adhere to all confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Complete initial background check
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training
- Meet health and safety requirements
Preferred qualifications for this position are:
- Spiritual/pastoral counseling background
- Stephen Ministry training/experience
- Bilingual (Spanish-speaking)
- Clincial Pastoral Education (CPE)

Description
CCA was started in 1973 by seven young adults in a Bible study group committed to volunteer efforts in order to create a stronger community. Today, we continue to rely on volunteers to help us do our daily work and are blessed by the generosity of all of our many volunteers. From answering phones and assisting with mailings, to working the checkout in CCA's Food Pantry, to serving as a doctor or nurse in our health center, CCA is a wonderful place for individuals, businesses and organizations to give generously of their time, talents and compassion.
