POSITION: Zoo Archivist
REPORTS TO: Marketing Director, Marketing Associate
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual will sort through and organize the Zoo’s vast digital library of photos and documents so that they may be easily searched, identified, and used for the Zoo’s promotional ventures.
ZOO ARCHIVIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use a computer and tabletop scanner to scan digital copies of the Zoo’s photos and news clippings.
Transfer files from external hard drive to Zoo server
Sort through and organize digital photo files on the Zoo’s server
Rename the files so the file subject is easily identifiable.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of basic computer systems and files
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Self-sufficient
- Minimum 2 hours/week

Description
Elmwood Park Zoo was established in 1924 when a local farmer transferred 16 acres and a small menagerie to the Borough of Norristown. Today, the Zoo is owned and operated by the Norristown Zoological Society, a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster an appreciation of wildlife and their habitat that will inspire active participation in conservation. Under the Society’s careful management, Elmwood Park Zoo has attained the elite status as one of only 225 institutions accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
