Family Village Issaquah is directly meeting the needs of the community members and FVI housing residents through providing parenting classes, computer education, financial planning classes, counseling services, child care, community space, and housing.

The FVI volunteer Office Assistant will serve as the first point of contact to individuals coming to Family Village Issaquah. In addition to providing the community with a welcoming atmosphere, the volunteer will support FVI staff and other volunteers through a variety of office duties. This includes welcoming community members, fielding questions, answering and directing phone calls, and additional office tasks as assigned (filing, copying, faxing, creating fliers, etc.) This volunteer position is also open as an internship. Specific tasks include:

  • Directing visitors and clients at the front desk (reception)
  • Informing staff about visiting clients
  • Taking phone calls
  • Directing vendors
  • Light office work, like filing, sorting, copying, etc.
  • Assisting preparing the FVI Newsletter
  • Supporting special projects as needed

Volunteers must commit to a minimum of one shift a week.

FVI currently needs volunteers for the following shifts:
Monday-Thursday 8:30am - 5pm
Fridays 8:30am - 3pm

Desired Qualifications Include:

  • Some experience and expertise as receptionist
  • Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as ability to work cooperatively and professionally with a team
  • Experience using a multi-phone line system
  • Organizational skills
  • Computer Literacy including Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability and willingness to treat all people with dignity and respect
  • Must be willing to make a minimum of a 3 month commitment of one shift a week
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Openness to helping to advance the mission and goals of the YWCA
