Come help bridge the digital divide by helping underserved children to explore, create, and code their very own computer games with The Exploratory and Google! At The Exploratory we use science, tech, engineering, art and math to enable children to use their natural curiosity to be innovative thinkers. The Google CS First program is a free program that increases student access and exposure to computer science (CS) education. During CS First clubs, volunteers will work one-on-one with students using Scratch a beginner coding program to build games. Volunteers will answer student questions (with the help of Google-provided solution sheets), give encouragement, and keep the club on schedule. You don't need prior computer science (CS) knowledge or education training to get involved. All you need is enthusiasm to help young people learn and explore. The program will occur every Tuesday for 8 weeks starting January 20th from 3-5. We ask that if you are interested, email Jessica Baggs, Outreach Coordinator ASAP at outreachvista.makerguilds.gmail.com Make an impact in the lives of local underserved children by introducing them to Tinkering, Making, and Innovating through Game Design. We can't wait to see what games the children create with your help!

At The Exploratory, we believe that a child’s curiosity and inquiry is at the hub of the learning wheel. From that center, STEAM subjects( Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math ) are artfully woven with making and tinkering opportunities as provocations to the child’s development of innovation and creative thinking skills.
