We believe that something as simple as a haircut can help a homeless individual gain confidence and restore dignity. We are seeking volunteers to provide haircuts to the homeless at a local homeless shelter. This is a great opportunity to use your skills to provide an essential service to those in need. You just need to bring your haircutting tools and we'll provide all other equipment.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide quality hair care services to those experiencing homeless to help them gain a positive self-image and better outlook on life.
Description
A mere "bad hair day" can crush our self esteem, make us less sociable and ruin our day. Can you imagine going for days/weeks/months with dirty, uncut hair? Poor hair hygiene negatively impacts our personal, social and psychological condition. Yet a haircut is something that most of us take for granted. A haircut can have a profound impact on a homeless individual who may not have access to it on a regular basis. This simple hair care activity can boost their self esteem, lift their spirit, and improve their outlook on life.
Sidewalk Salon is a non-profit organization that provides hair care services to the homeless. We partner with volunteers from local hair salons and cosmetology schools who offer their time and professional skills. We bring our services to homeless shelters throughout the San Francisco bay area.
