WildCare, the largest wildlife rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma, is currently offering full-time paid internships for the 2015 season. Interns have responsibilities in all aspects of care for Oklahoma’s injured and/or orphaned wildlife. The work and learning experience revolves around hands-on training with rearing native songbirds, mammals and raptors. Interns gain detailed information regarding housing, diets, behavior, medical treatments, and physical examinations. Medical management of wounds, re-hydration and emaciation protocols will be followed daily. Interns assess animal’s progress and participate in their release. They work directly with senior Nursery Team Leaders and the Director. Interns will be assigned nursery areas based on need, previous experience and personal interest. WildCare expects their interns to work hard, be dedicated to learning, and maintain a positive attitude in a hectic atmosphere.

Qualifications: Responsible, trustworthy, multi-tasker, motivated, positive attitude, willingness to learn and grow, good physical condition (able to lift 50 pounds), able to work in Oklahoma summer heat, B.S. degree in Life sciences or related field preferred, wildlife rehab or other animal care experience preferred. Rabies pre-exposure recommended but not required for work with most species. Reliable personal vehicle required.
Some rooms available for low cost rent in house 10 minutes away. Housing is also available in Norman, OK (20 min drive).
