Share your interest in art, and inspire people living with mental illness. People Incorporated's Project Recovery program is looking for volunteers to come bi-monthly or weekly for 2-5 hours and lead an art group with any kind of art medium including, but not limited to, clay, paint (watercolor, acrylic), pastels, pencils, and markers as well as collage. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in a particular art genre and possess a willingness to explore that genre with clients. Desired qualities for a Project Recovery volunteer include experience working with people experiencing homelessness, who are at varying levels of intoxication, and who have serious and persistent mental and developmental disabilities. Volunteers would need to be able to independently plan and implement activities with minimal supervision provided. People Incorporated provides community-integrated services and support for people with mental illness. Project Recovery provides street outreach (basic survival gear), drop-in services (shower, laundry, Harm Reduction and Recovery groups), and basic case management assistance (medical, benefits, housing, and shelter referral) for east metro adults who experience homelessness and chemical dependency issues.
