About Camp Fire Minnesota’s Youth and Teen Clubs
Camp Fire Minnesota helps students find their own unique spark. Clubs meet multiple days a week, in partnership with affordable housing communities and school districts to offer our programs at no cost to the participating youth. We provide homework and literacy assistance for at least 45 minutes each day with the remainder of the time on fun, hands-on projects - such as nature and outdoor activities, service learning projects in their community, learning through technology, planning for their future and so much more. Clubs have varying schedules, but all meet within the hours of 4pm and 6:30pm Monday - Friday.
Mentor Role
We believe that the best youth development occurs in small groups where children and youth are actively involved in creating their own learning. We offer two mentorship opportunities to help create this environment.
One-on-One Mentors are matched directly with a Camp Fire youth or teen to provide direct mentorship through homework assistance and goal building. This role is available at a limited number of clubs, please contact us to discuss.
Small Group Mentors provide much needed support to Camp Fire club leaders and youth. In this role, Mentors provide homework assistance and activities support to a group of 3-5 youth or teens.
Commitment
Consistency: Volunteers are important to Camp Fire youth, and they are excited to see you!
A full academic-year term commitment is requested. We’ll work together to create a schedule that works best for you and the Camp Fire club.
Location
We have 18 locations across the Metro Area and work with our Mentors to find the best fit for their schedules.
Mentor Training
Camp Fire Minnesota provides training to support our Mentors throughout their volunteer experience.
Next Steps
We will work with you to select a mentorship opportunity that works with your schedule. Contact us to find available opportunities or to apply - call 612-235-7284 or email info@campfiremn.org. Thank you for your support!
