Foster

Ruff Start Dog Rescue-IL is looking for dog foster homes! More information about fostering:

  • There's a time commitment. You may be asked to foster a dog from two weeks to a few months, depending on circumstances.
  • Dogs come from the shelters and may have a high level of stress for a few days - it takes time for them to get back to the normal daily life.
  • You may be asked to work with a dog on some basic training and temperament issues - it takes patience for a dog to learn the basic commands and you as a foster can tell us more about your foster's temperament issues.
  • You may get attached to your new friend - foster "failure" (adoption) may happen!

You will be asked to fill out our foster home application - our fostering mentors will get back in touch with you ASAP.

"Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever."

"A dog is not a thing. A thing is replaceable. A dog is not. A thing is disposable. A dog is not. A thing doesn’t have a heart. A dog’s heart is bigger than any "thing" you can ever own."
