Global Potential (GP) empowers youth and communities to energize each other through education,

international service work and cultural exchange. GP is an 18-month transformative after-school

summer program that works with 500 youth a year in New York and Paris, France. The GP program includes 16.5 months of workshops locally and 1.5 months of international cultural exchange in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Nicaragua or domestic programming in New York, or Paris. GP vision is that as youth develop, communities develop.

We offer our volunteers the opportunity to be exposed to the workings of a small start-up non-profit organization run by exciting and engaged people, and exposure and access to the NGO and international development community and issues. Our organization is an innovative, collaborative and creative one, and we would like the work of our volunteers to reflect that.GP vision is that as youth develop, communities develop.

We are currently looking for a CFO who will ensure financial compliance with all regulatory authorities related to diverse funding streams; and develop internal auditing procedures to insure compliance with all grant requirements. This is a NYC-based volunteering position.

Job duties:

 Process cash receipts, payables and payroll transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). This

includes scanning in documents to match with transactions

 Process payroll and file all payroll filings by due dates

 Prepare monthly financial statement package for management review

 Prepare quarterly financial statement package (budget vs. actual, forecast, cash flow) for

presentation to Board

 Submit for reimbursement from Department of State for ECA grant. Prepare and file the

quarterly DOS reports

 Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors and clients. Review all

accounting transactions for adherence to organization's accounting procedures and policies

manual; work with staff to assure compliance

 Serve as main contact for external annual audit. Prepare all work papers for auditors, including

Form 990 schedules. Review auditor prepared financial statements and Form 990

 Salesforce - QuickBooks revenue reconciliations

 Prepare Monthly Bank reconciliations

 Prepare budget in QuickBooks and different budget scenarios into a spreadsheet. Work closely

with management and Finance committee to create annual budget. Input approved budget into

QBO

 Training for field staff on expense accounting (procedures)

 Do updated non-profit report on Guidestar

 Add Global Potential to Charity Navigator

Education, Skills and Knowledge:

 Knowledge of quickbooks required

 Graduate degree in accounting, business and/or CPA preferred or experience with not-for-profit accounting

 Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, enthusiastic personality

 Ability to work independently and creatively, as well as part of a team

 Ability to pay strong attention to details

 Solid, communication, organizational and time management skills

 Strong computer skills (PC and/or MAC): Microsoft Office, Excel, Internet

 Ability to write financial reports.

 Knowledge of Salesforce a plus

 Knowledge of google docs a plus

 Any Additional languages a plus
