Board and Advisory Council members have specific skills, knowledge, or connections that they commit to sharing with Women’s Power Space. The Board of Directors are the primary decision-making body of Women's Power Space. Advisory council members to do not make governing decisions and may not live in the Hudson Valley. They dedicate their vision, influence, energy, and knowledge to Women’s Power Space through advising the board and staff on decisions and assisting in development efforts. Mission Statement
What if we had a space in downtown Poughkeepsie where women from around the city and around the Hudson Valley could come together, practice yoga, share stories, create art, find peace, and pursue their amazing leadership? What if we had free and low cost yoga classes available in the heart of Poughkeepsie’s business district so that women could come get some yogic self care before work, during lunch, and in the evenings? What if we had local, delicious, vegetarian and vegan food around to nourish our bodies and to promote food security?
Women’s Power Space is a collective project to open up a feminist, anti-racist, and queer community space where women feel safe expressing themselves and can run away with their dreams. Join us, and we’ll see what happens.
Description
Women's Power Space is an innovative and intersectional space for women located in downtown Poughkeepsie. It is a place for women to come together to practice yoga and other embodied arts to heal our minds, bodies, and spirits. It is also a safe space for women to meet in community, to develop their projects, express their dreams, and create peace. Women’s Power Space is a nourishing, evolving, and open-minded community that is founded in feminist, anti-racist, and queer principles.
