The Urban Baby beginnings is looking for volunteers to prepare baby essentials for distribution to babies in need in Central Virginia. Currently, the baby essentials pantry distributes approximately 3,000 each week, and we need your help to wrap our diaper donations so that they can be easily accessed and given to those in need.

Volunteer hours are flexible on Wednesday's. We ask that volunteers email us at p.bradley@urbanbabybeginnings.org each time they plan on attending so that we can prepare accordingly. You do not need to commit to every occurrence. Helping out once or twice makes a huge difference!

Thank you for sharing the love to families in need at UBB!!!

About Urban Baby Beginnings

Location:

1965 Wakefield Street, 2nd floor, Petersburg, VA 23805, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to reduce adverse outcomes and isolation experienced by families during the prenatal, postpartum and early childhood years by increasing access to maternal health hubs which provide community support, workforce development, and advocacy for birthing and postpartum families. UBB's vision is that every person of childbearing age in the United States has access to a high-quality, culturally tailored maternal health hub.

Description

For over 29 years, Urban Baby Beginnings has been the leading non-profit providing community support services specifically for pregnant and parenting families in Virginia. We provide an environment that respects the inherent dignity and strength of families and celebrates their successes. We believe that through collaboration and strong community-based support systems, that families will thrive.

In 2018 UBB joined forces to establishing a "safe spot" for families free of judgment; creating a place where birthing people, family members, and the community
can connect and feel supported. Empowering expectant families to make healthy birth choices while addressing systemic issues that provide a barrier to individuals and communities who deserve high quality and compassionate care reduces the risks associated with preterm birth and adverse outcomes.
